Management Game
'Great Indian Diamond Hunt' (GIDH) - Board Game Based Learning
"GIDH" is a fun team building simulation that focuses discussion on mining gold within the organization. The focus is on improving leadership and interdepartmental collaboration with a variety of links to team-based issues. Players leave with tangible ideas for better communications, teamwork and leadership. The exercise focuses on collaboration as its main outcome. It also links to issues of quality, leadership, systems, communications and a variety of other organizational issues.
Participant Profile:
It is a powerful and proven team-building event that plays with organizations of all kinds. The participant profile ranges from 11-year olds to top managers at multinational corporations to shop floor personnel in manufacturing plants to executive secretaries at international conferences.
Numbers it can address:
Team size is 5 or 6 people and there is no limit to the number of participants. Sessions can be delivered for groups of 8 and groups of 600. Duration it can be run for:
It can be run as a highly interactive morning or afternoon event. In 3.5 to 4 hours, the group gets to play and then fully debrief the event and discuss real opportunities for improvement. It also functions very well as a full-day program within a conference or as a specific training event on team building, leadership and collaboration. Methodology:
GIDH has a fairly simple deployment process. Only requirements are adequate space to play the game in large groups, a computer and projector as well as a loudspeaker system. All other materials are provided with the package. Depending on the group size, etc., adequate number of print outs of maps, other accessories, etc need to be arranged for.
GIDH is a great way for teams to experience issues of communication, resource management and team dynamics common to the workplace. During debriefing, team behaviors are linked to opportunities to improve collaboration, leadership, teamwork and communications critical to optimizing results. Participative, visual and interactive, it produces an excellent learning environment in a high-impact and memorable way.
